Cookie Policy

Information about cookies and browser storage used by this static website.

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This site is designed to run as a static frontend. In the default implementation, the public blog pages do not require non-essential cookies.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Some are necessary for security, hosting, or basic operation. Others, such as analytics or advertising cookies, may require consent in the EU/UK and notice or opt-out rights in some US states.

Current Default Use

  • Public pages: no intentional non-essential cookies are set by the default site code.
  • Cookie banner: your cookie preference is stored in localStorage so the notice does not keep appearing after you choose.
  • Traffic analytics: if configured, Google Analytics 4, Cloudflare Web Analytics, or Plausible can collect pageview data such as URL path, referrer, device/browser details, approximate location, and article engagement events such as active read-time units. By default, the Google tag starts with denied consent storage and sends pageviews only after you choose "I agree"; other optional analytics scripts also wait for that choice.
  • Advertising: if configured, Google AdSense can load advertising scripts and use cookies or similar technologies for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, frequency capping, and personalization depending on your AdSense settings. By default, this site loads AdSense only after you choose "I agree".
  • Reader list form: newsletter signups are posted to the configured form provider, currently FormSubmit. The site code does not set newsletter cookies.
  • Admin page: the GitHub token is stored only in sessionStorage for the current browser session after the administrator chooses to use it.
  • Local drafts: article drafts may be stored in localStorage only when an administrator clicks "Save local draft".
  • Hosting/CDN/security: Namescheap, Cloudflare, GitHub, or other infrastructure providers may process technical data or set strictly necessary security cookies depending on your configuration.

Analytics, Ads, Embeds, and Affiliate Tools

If analytics, advertising, embedded media, affiliate networks, heatmaps, or social widgets change, this policy and the consent controls should be updated where required. AdSense publisher IDs and ad slot IDs should stay in deployment variables rather than source code.

Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect security features, admin publishing, or embedded third-party tools if you add them later.
